Global Village Welcome Walk

Our annual Welcome Walk (previously called the Connecting Communities Walk) is a tradition at GVP that celebrates our community and raises our home as a place of inclusion, belonging, and joy. Traditionally, Welcome Walk participants walk the 4.8 miles from Clarkston, where our students live, to GVP in downtown Decatur. Last year, over 300 participants showed their support for GVP at the 2019 Welcome Walk!

This annual friend-raising event is a unique opportunity to step up your commitment to GVP and welcome new members to our special community. This year, we're taking our event virtual! Our eighth annual Global Village Welcome Walk will take place during the week of November 22nd - 28th, 2020. Visit the event page below!

If you represent a business interesting in sponsoring the 2020 Welcome Walk, check out our sponsorship opportunities here and sign up to become a sponsor here! Please contact Kate Mull at for more information.

On November 2, 2019, more than 300 participants joined GVP for our Welcome Walk from Clarkston to Decatur.

Authors' Teas

One of our favorite GVP traditions is our quarterly Authors’ Teas, where students showcase their learning in a performance for community members. While we were not able to hold our usual Authors' Tea on May 1st, we hosted a Virtual Community Tea via Facebook Live to celebrate and bring together our GVP Family. For a video recording of our virtual event, including a Q&A, updates about students, and music with Elise Witt, watch our Youtube video here!

Tribute to Education

Held every spring, our annual gala Tribute to Education is an opportunity to contribute to the work and impact of Global Village Project while enjoying a lively, fun-filled evening. Featuring dinner and cocktails, a live auction and paddle raise, a performance by the GVP chorus, and more, you don't want to miss this event! During Tribute to Education 2019, we raised $240,000 through the generosity of our global village family to support the educational journeys of GVP students!
