T

his documentary film, a Discovery Hill production narrated by Matthew Lillard, is being shown on a national and international level to increase understanding of the refugee community and contribute to the sustainability of GVP. Since its release in early 2011, the hour-long documentary has been shown at the Rome International Film Festival, the Atlanta Underground Film Festival and nearby at Agnes Scott college.

According to Ella Jane New, director and executive producer, the film focuses on telling the stories of girls — their community and history, the stories of the homes they were forced to leave and their journeys to the US— while raising awareness that these refugees have futures as fully participating US citizens in building our country’s future.

“We hope that, by working together to create this unique film, the young women of the Global Village School will be a voice for the 35,000 refugee children that are relocated to the US every year,” writes Ella Jane New.
